Electric Vehicle Charger Installation

One of Oregon's Leading Electric Vehicle Installation Companies

Are you an electric vehicle owner who’s tired of waiting at public charge stations? Installing an electric vehicle charger within your home can save you time, and help you wake up to a fully charged vehicle! At Beaver Electric, our experienced electricians are happy to help install your own electric vehicle charger. Today, we are seeing exponential growth in the number of Electric Vehicle or “EV” owners throughout Oregon. Each year we witness more and more electric vehicle charger installations being placed in spaces for public use, and slowly more on people’s private property for personal use.

Considering the growing popularity of electric vehicle owners throughout Oregon, the chance of finding an available public charger becomes less and less by the day. Rather than relying on chance, we suggest you take the next steps and install an electric vehicle charger in your own home. Electric vehicle charging stations can be installed within your garage, your driveway, or your property. When it comes to electric vehicle charger installations, our trained electricians, with 40+ years of experience, take the time to understand your home’s electrical system, discover the appropriate areas to install, and suggest what charging installation would work best for you.

Types of Electric Vehicle Chargers

Electric vehicles can come with a variety of different charger options, based on the brand and model. Some electric vehicles come with their own charger, and will require an outlet to be installed. This is where Beaver Electric comes in. We will examine the type of charger that comes with your vehicle and will discuss with you the best options in your home to install an outlet. Two of the most common EV charging stations we install are Level 1 and Level 2.

Level 1 Charging Stations

Level 1 chargers have a slow rate of charge. They are typically 120-volts and your vehicle will take 24 to 48 hours to receive a full charge. They charge at a rate of 4-5 miles an hour and are not encouraged if you have a long commute or drive away from home frequently. A Level 1 charger is a common charger, and despite their slow charging rates, they are easy to use and inexpensive.

Level 2 Charging Stations

Level 2 chargers are typically faster than Level 1 chargers. They are 240-volt, 32 to 80 amps and are able to provide a full charge in 6 to 12 hours or between 20-65 miles per hour, making them a practical option. Since the Level 2 chargers are more powerful than the Level 1 chargers, they will need to have a dedicated circuit and have a hardwire installation or a specific outlet installed.

Oregon’s Electric Vehicle Rebate Program

To fulfill Oregon’s Zero Emission Vehicle Plan, Oregon offers a cash rebate for residents who purchase or lease electric vehicles. This rebate covers electric cars, motorcycles, trucks, and buses, and offers varying prices based on the kw rating of each vehicle’s battery. To apply for the rebate, you must submit an application within 6 months of the date you purchased your vehicle or began your lease. Help keep Oregon green by reducing harmful carbon emissions. By doing your part and going electric, it allows us to preserve the state we know and love.
